About Us

The New York State Society of the Children of the American Revolution (N.Y.S.S.C.A.R.) is a statewide organization dedicated to preserving the history and ideals of the American Revolution. Through education, service, and leadership opportunities, members develop a deeper understanding of their patriotic heritage while building skills in citizenship, public speaking, and parliamentary procedure. The Society supports meaningful historical programs and encourages members to engage with their communities at the local, state, and national levels.

State Project

The 2025–2026 State Project, Triumph at Ticonderoga: America’s First Victory, focuses on the early successes of the American Revolution and the vital role of Fort Ticonderoga. Members will explore how soldiers, civilians, tradespeople, and animals contributed to the Patriot cause, while supporting the construction of a reproduction 3-pound cannon carriage for use in educational demonstrations at the fort. Through contests, officer challenges, and hands-on learning, members will help share Revolutionary history with the public and celebrate the spirit of 1776 across New York State.

The National Society of the Children of the American Revolution, founded in 1895, is the oldest patriotic organization for youths in our country. Membership is open to descendants of patriots of the American Revolution. The age range is birth to twenty-one. Meetings and activities are planned for all ages, with special consideration given to younger members. Members gain invaluable leadership experience in conducting meetings, following parliamentary procedures and standard protocol, serving as delegates and speaking before groups at local, state and national conferences.
